Recently, SGL Group has developed a new large tow carbon fiber product, which significantly expands its existing product system. The product name is Sigrafil C T50-4.8/280, which is characterized by a high Young's modulus and is particularly suitable for use in the aerospace industry.
The product has the same high mechanical properties such as high rigidity and high strength, and can also meet the performance requirements of pressure vessels, drive shafts, profiles and sheet molding compounds. The elastic modulus of the new carbon fiber is between the standard modulus and the medium modulus, which makes the comprehensive mechanical properties not available in the conventional 50k large tow carbon fiber. Based on the 50k large tow carbon fiber that has been used in large-scale applications in the automotive field, combined with the active operation of SGL Group in various industries, this product has become a successful case of knowledge transfer within the group. The fiber can significantly increase the production efficiency of the composite molding process, thereby further expanding the application field of the composite material.
