Frequently Asked Questions (Material Selection)
What is the difference between Long Glass Fiber (LGF) and Long Carbon Fiber (LCF)?
LGF provides excellent impact resistance, dimensional stability, and cost-effective metal replacement capabilities. LCF offers superior stiffness, lower weight, and electrical conductivity, making it ideal for aerospace and high-end sports equipment where maximum strength-to-weight ratio is required.
How do I choose between LFT-PP and LFT-PA?
Choose LFT-PP (Polypropylene) for automotive interiors/exteriors, water-resistant applications, and general lightweighting where continuous temperatures do not exceed 100°C. Choose LFT-PA (Polyamide/Nylon) for parts exposed to high heat (engine covers), oil, and extreme mechanical stress.
Can these long fiber composites replace steel or aluminum?
Yes. LFT materials create an internal continuous skeletal network during injection molding. This structure dissipates stress effectively, allowing LFT composites to replace die-cast aluminum and steel assemblies, reducing part weight by up to 80% while maintaining structural integrity.
