What Is PA6 CF40 ?

LFT-G® BC04A PA6 CF40 is a 40% long carbon fiber (Toray's) reinforced polyamide6(nylon6) Compound. The addition of 40% long carbon fibers significantly enhances the mechanical properties of PA6. This includes increased strength, stiffness, and resistance to creep and fatigue compared to unfilled PA6 or PA6 with short carbon fiber reinforcement. It is the definitive lightweight solution when you need to replace metal parts in automotive, industrial, and high-end sporting goods where structural integrity cannot be compromised.

Processing Information

To unlock the full potential of LFT-G® PA6 CF40, precise control of the injection molding process is crucial. As a polyamide-based reinforced polymer, proper pre-drying is essential to prevent hydrolysis. Processing at elevated melt and mold temperatures is required to ensure a homogeneous melt and preserve the integrity of the long carbon fiber network.

What is PA6-CF good for?

The choice between long and short carbon fiber is critical for achieving high performance. A long carbon fiber composite creates an internal skeletal network within the polymer, providing vastly superior impact strength, a higher modulus, and better creep resistance. This structure allows for more effective stress transfer along the fibers, resulting in a much tougher and more durable part compared to the random, disjointed nature of short fiber reinforcement, making it the superior choice to replace metal parts.

Benefits Filled Long Carbon fiber

  • Extreme Strength & High Modulus
  • Outstanding Lightweight Potential
  • Superior Fatigue & Creep Resistance
  • Excellent Dimensional Stability & Low Shrinkage
  • Good Wear Resistance and Low Friction
  • Inherent Electrical Conductivity for ESD

FAQ about PA6 CF40

How much carbon fiber can be filled?

A: We can customize the fiber content to meet your specific needs. While this grade is LFT-G®PA6 CF40 (40%), we offer a range of long carbon fiber reinforced composites with different loadings to achieve the optimal balance of performance and cost.

Is nylon and PA6 the same thing?

A: The two most popular grades of polyamide, also known as nylon, are type 66 and type 6 (sometimes seen as PA66 and PA6). Overall, they are fairly similar, but each has distinct benefits in specific applications. Nylon 6 processes at a lower temperature and has a lower mold shrinkage.

Are you can customize the color?

A: Yes, we can customize the color of our LFT-G®PA6 CF40 material. While the natural color is black due to the carbon fiber, we can work with you to develop a specific color match for your application's aesthetic requirements.
