PPS material refers to polyphenylene sulfide, which is a high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic. It is renowned for its excellent high-temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, flame retardant, dimensional stability, and good mechanical properties. Its molecular structure is composed of alternating benzene rings and sulfur atoms. Carbon fibers and other fillers can be added to further enhance mechanical strength and heat resistance. Due to its superior comprehensive performance, PPS is widely used in the fields of electronics and electrical appliances, automotive industry, mechanical and chemical engineering, etc. It is often used to replace metals and is employed to manufacture precise and durable components.

What is CF PPS Polymer?

PPS pellet is itself a crystalline polymer, featuring exceptional high-temperature resistance, chemical resistance and dimensional stability. Compared with short fibers, long carbon fibers (with lengths typically ranging from 5 mm to 25 mm) can more effectively transfer stress, providing high strength and high modulus. Using PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) as the base resin, long carbon fibers (LCF) are introduced to enhance it to form long carbon fiber PPS materials.

Performance advantage of CF PPS Material

 Excellent mechanical properties
The introduction of long carbon fibers enables PPS materials to achieve higher tensile strength and bending modulus, while also possessing excellent impact toughness. Compared to short fibers or glass fiber reinforced PPS, LCF PPS compound resin can better resist stress concentration and fatigue damage.
 Outstanding high-temperature resistance
The PPS resin itself can operate for a long time at temperatures exceeding 200 ℃, and can withstand up to 260 ℃ for a short period. When combined with long carbon fibers, the material still maintains high mechanical strength and dimensional stability at high temperatures, making it suitable for engine compartments and high-temperature environments.
 Chemical resistance and dimensional stability
LCF PPS plastic pellet exhibits high resistance to most acids, bases, fuels and solvents, with an extremely low water absorption rate. Therefore, it can maintain stable dimensions and performance even in harsh working conditions.
 Exceptional electrical performance
The material has outstanding electrical insulation and arc resistance properties, and can be widely used in high-temperature electrical components.
 Light weighting
While maintaining strength and stiffness, the density of LCF PPS materials is much lower than that of metal materials, which can significantly reduce the weight of components, achieving energy conservation and improvement of system efficiency.

VS GF PPS Composite

The LCF PPS significantly outperforms the GF PPS composite in terms of strength, fatigue resistance and impact toughness, making it more suitable for demanding structural applications.

VS Metal materials

The LCF PPS plastic pellet not only has a lighter weight, but also possesses excellent corrosion resistance and electrical insulation properties. In certain applications, it can partially or completely replace traditional metals such as aluminum and stainless steel.

The LCF PPS material is a combination of long carbon fibers and high-performance polyphenylene sulfide resin. It possesses advantages such as high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and lightweight. It is a new type of composite material that can partially replace metals and traditional glass fiber reinforced materials. Furthermore, it has broad application prospects in fields such as automobiles, electronics and electrical appliances, aerospace, and industrial equipment, representing the development trend of high-performance engineering plastic composites.
