Rhodes Interform is an expert in custom composite and metal forming machinery and has completed the installation and testing of the composite molding equipment at the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Center (AMRC).

AMRC is principally engaged in the design, development and manufacture of composite presses that can “complete all work” as it will be used as a facility to help a wide range of UK companies maintain the cutting edge of composites development.
State-of-the-art equipment, including 10,000 kN hydraulic presses, six-axis loading, high-pressure RTM, dual-mode converters, hot fluid heating systems and die-cutting separators, capable of a variety of composite moldings, including open and closed molding, resin transfer molds Plastic (RTM), prepreg, compression molded and thermoplastic. The project attracted funding from the Government's Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Program (AMSCI).
Rhodes Interform, part of Group Rhodes in Wakefield, works closely with the AMRC team throughout the design and manufacturing phases of the project to ensure that custom equipment is delivered on time and in accordance with customer's strict specifications.
Mark Ridgway OBE, CEO of Rhodes Interform, said: “The project has achieved great success thanks to good communication, teamwork and collaboration between our team and AMRC. We are very proud to be able to manufacture a composite press that will be some The world's leading manufacturing company is used to develop new technologies."
Darren Wells, research engineer at AMRC Composites Center, said: “It is great to support UK industrial construction of such unique and powerful equipment. This press will enable us to undertake a wide range of projects for many years to come.”
The machine can be used by companies wishing to develop composite materials through research and development. The plant has been used as part of a successful joint venture to develop the future chassis of the UK Performance Car Company. The project is expected to evolve into a complete component production that will help bring hundreds of jobs to the Yorkshire region.
