LGFPP has the characteristics of low density, high specific strength, high specific modulus, strong impact resistance, dimensional stability and low warpage. Compared with metal materials such as steel and aluminum and thermosetting composite materials, LGFPP can provide designers with greater design flexibility, can form complex automotive parts, reduce the number of parts used in products, and save mold costs.
1.Mechanical properties
The glass fiber formed in the long glass fiber reinforced material forms a three-dimensional network structure, can withstand large stresses and loads, and effectively absorb energy, so that the composite material can achieve better mechanical properties.
The addition of glass fiber can effectively improve the mechanical properties of the material, and the long glass fiber reinforced composite material is superior to the same fiberglass content enhanced short fiber reinforced material in mechanical properties such as tensile modulus and notched impact. LFT materials also have excellent mechanical properties: under the same glass fiber content, the same force, long glass fiber reinforced Pa material only toughness whitish, while short fiber reinforced Pa material brittle fracture.
2. Degree of warpage
The addition of long glass fiber can significantly reduce the molding shrinkage of the matrix resin, but sometimes the glass fiber tends to have uneven orientation in the matrix, and there is a problem that the shrinkage ratio between the flow direction of the melt and the vertical direction is large, and finally the warpage of the workpiece is caused. It is deformed and cannot be assembled (as shown in the figure below). By improving the interfacial adhesion between the fiber and the substrate, the uniformity of the fiber orientation is greatly improved during the injection molding process, and the warpage deformation of the material is significantly reduced.
3. Product appearance
Due to the addition of glass fibers, the distribution of glass fibers in the resin matrix is difficult to control, resulting in floating fibers on the surface of the product, which affects the appearance of the product. Through special process, the glass fiber in the composite material is better controlled, so that the surface of the product is smooth and free of floating fiber.
