What is LFRT ?

In recent years, with the development of high-performance high-temperature thermoplastic resins and the continuous progress of composite molding and processing technology, thermoplastic composites are developing rapidly and have become a hotspot for development in the field of composite materials. Compared with thermoset composites, thermoplastic composites have high fracture toughness, impact resistance, chemical and water resistance, good thermoforming performance, high productivity, simple process, short production cycle, environmental protection and recycling.

What is lFRT material?

Thermoplastic composites (FRTP) are classified as Short Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (SFRT), Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (LFRT), Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites (CFRT).

  • Short Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (SFRT): common glass fiber reinforced modified plastic pellets.
  • Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (LFRT): LFT materials with a particle length of approximately 10-25cm, commonly LFT-PP.

LFRT,refer to long fiber reinforced thermoplastic, the filled fiber has long glass fiber and long carbon fiber, the matrix resin will have PP,PA6/PA66,PA12,PPA,PPS,TPU,PBT,ABS, and PEEK material.Xiamen LFT-G Company adopts the LFT-Granules process for direct injection molding, which significantly reduces the loss of fiber length due to shear, and provides more diversified product and material options for end customers by choosing the fiber length, fiber ratio and material combinations individually.

Benefit of LFT compound

------

LFT PP material has the advantage of lightweight than metal part. The innovative combination of longer, continuous reinforcing fibers and thermoplastic polymers dramatically increases strength and rigidity while significantly reducing weight.

LFT PP LGF material is also less expensive than other materials commonly used in the automotive industry, such as metal or other composites. This makes it an ideal choice for cost-sensitive automotive applications where cost overruns can be critical. PP LGF material is also easy to process, which means that it can be manufactured in large volumes to meet the demands of the industry.
