Carbon fiber composite material (CFRP) recovery method

There are three main categories: physical recycling, energy recovery, and chemical recycling.

The physical recovery method mainly breaks the waste CFRP into granules or grinds it into powder and directly uses it as a filler or adds it to paving materials and cement. This method is simple in processing and low in cost, but most of the obtained is low-value regeneration. The product is not suitable for CFRP containing high value carbon fiber.

Energy recovery is a method of incinerating organic matter in CFRP waste and utilizing its energy. The recovery method is simple, but CFRP waste releases toxic gas during incineration, causing secondary pollution.

The chemical recovery method is capable of obtaining high-value carbon fiber and recycling the resin as material or energy, and is the most suitable method for treating waste carbon fiber composite materials. The chemical recovery method is based on whether or not a medium is used, mainly including pyrolysis and solvolysis.
