Toho Tenax Europe manufactures the assembly carrier for the Porsche GT3 Cup II.

It is the first automotive part produced by Preform (PvP) technology in the Tenax Part series in Heinsberg, Germany, and is supplied directly to OEMs. Within the global Teijin Group, Toho Tenax is expanding its composites business by integrating advanced composite technologies to form a dedicated Teijin Composites business unit. The Porsche GT3 Cup II was exhibited at the JEC World booth in 2017.
Toho Tenax explained that the assembly carrier was made on the basis of a preform made of random fiber spray instead of a woven fabric preform. The robotic system developed by Toh Tenax Europe automatically sprays, cures and trims carbon fibers treated with adhesive. Compared to current prior art processes - using carbon fiber fabrics that are hand-covered in the mold - Toho Tenax claims that the Tenax PvP process automatically produces preforms without the need for incuts and overhangs. A uniform PvP preform results in perfect load behavior of the part. At the same time, due to the automation of the entire preforming process, the cost is significantly reduced, providing a shortened intermediate step and taking quality assurance work.
