Solvay will provide Safran with a range of composite materials technology to manufacture key structural components for the engine.
Alpharetta (GA, US) announced on July 19 that it has signed an agreement with Safran (Paris, France) to provide advanced structural composites for LEAP engines manufactured by CFM International (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) and used for air Guest (Toulouse, France), Boeing (Chicago, Illinois, USA) and Comac (Shanghai, China) single-channel program.
Solvay will provide Safran with a range of composite materials technology to produce key structural components for the engine, including fan blades, fan boxes, sound absorbing panels and grooved packing. Some of the materials will be manufactured and supplied by Östringen, Germany, where Solvay opened a state-of-the-art resin plant in 2016, focusing on the LEAP program.
