
Anatoly Chubais, head of the Russian nanotechnology group, a state-owned company that develops nanotechnology, announced that the use of carbon fiber will lead to a breakthrough in the Russian construction industry.
Chubais made this statement at the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Russia on Tuesday. As the Interfax news agency reported on July 10th, the head of Rusnano advocated the use of carbon fiber in the construction of load-bearing structures.
“Of course, the massive breakthrough was to replace the load-bearing structure with carbon fiber in the construction sector,” said Anatoly Chubais, noting that this could happen in the next decade.
According to him, the reinforced concrete column wrapped with carbon fiber is the first stage. The next one is the application of carbon fiber. The head of Rusnano added that this building material can be used, for example, in the construction of transmission towers.
