At the Farnborough Air Show, Wichita announced a cooperation agreement with Tamarack Aviation Group to provide ATLAS Active Winglet technology opportunities for cooperation on some military aircraft platforms.
Kaman Composites and Tamarack Aerospace collaborate to develop winglet technology
“The collaboration between our two companies will leverage the synergies brought about by our complementary capabilities,” explains Mark Withrow, vice president and general manager of Kaman's US Composites business. “Our agreement combines the innovative technology of Tamarack Aerospace ATLAS Active Winglet with Kaman's engineering, contracting and structural manufacturing capabilities.”
Tamarack Aerospace President Brian Cox said: "We are very pleased to have a partner in Kaman with extensive experience in military projects. Our Active Winglet technology has achieved great success in the Cessna CitationJet series. Our Active winglets add performance advantages to a wider range of military and commercial platforms without the weight and cost of other solutions that require structural reinforcement of the wing.
The ATLAS Active Winglet is an invented and patented technology of the Tamarack Aerospace Group designed to mitigate the extra wing loads from winglet installation. Kaman and Tamarack have identified specific military aircraft platforms that will benefit the most from the installation of the ATLAS Active Winglet.
"ATLAS Active Winglet technology will provide significant value to the US military, improve aircraft readiness, increase aircraft downtime and overall aircraft performance efficiency.
