Thermoplastic carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRTP), jointly developed by General Motors and Teijin Chemical, has been used by General Motors for its pickup truck components and is in mass production. The car model is the "2019GMC Serra" released this fall. The interior seats use carbon fiber reinforced plastic. This is the first time in the world. It is expected that this material will be more widely used in the field of forming and recycling automotive parts.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is an advanced composite material composed of carbon fiber and various resins. Carbon fiber reinforced plastics are mainly used in the aerospace and aerospace industries; they can also be used in sports equipment such as tennis rackets, snowboards, racing cars, rowing boats, etc. Currently, they are only used to manufacture the main bearing components of automobiles, such as spring steel plates and drive shafts. This is the first time in production cars, so this will accelerate the pace of carbon fiber reinforced plastics into the automotive industry.
