The ever-increasing presence of carbon fiber composites in the manufacturing process has driven the need for dielectric cure monitoring during the manufacturing process. Typically, dielectric sensors require a filter to block conductive fibers and prevent shorting of the electrodes. Filters must be manually replaced after each test, and their use adds time, effort and cost, so it is necessary to avoid using them in fast, repetitive operations.


Lambient Technologies' carbon + direct contact sensors feature a protective permanent insulation layer for curing monitoring without the need for filters and seamless integration into molding applications. The data from the carbon+sensor shows a consistent relationship to the cure state and can be used to determine: flow front or resin contact, minimum viscosity point, time of peak reaction rate that may be associated with gelation, and user defined cure end.
