LFT-G® PP LGF60 Long Glass Reinforced Polypropylene Composite

High Stiffness · Excellent Chemical Resistance · Lightweight · Cost-Effective
PP LGF30FR | UL94-Rated Upgrade PP GF30

LFT-G® PP LGF60 is a 60% long glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene compound engineered for exceptional stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability. The high fiber loading delivers a flexural modulus and a heat deflection temperature of 162°C, making it an ideal lightweight metal replacement for structural components in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

The polypropylene matrix provides excellent chemical resistance and near-zero moisture absorption, ensuring reliable performance in humid and chemically aggressive environments.

Why Choose PP LGF60?

PP LGF60 VS. PP GF60

LFT-G® PP LGF60 combines the cost-effectiveness and chemical resistance of polypropylene with the mechanical performance of long glass fiber reinforcement. Compared to short-glass PP, it offers significantly higher stiffness, impact strength, and creep resistance. Its low density and high fiber content deliver an outstanding stiffness-to-weight ratio, while maintaining good flowability for complex injection-molded parts.

Applications

Automotive Under‑Hood Components

LFT-G® PP LGF60 delivers metal-like stiffness at low weight, making it ideal for battery trays, seat frames, and front-end modules. It also withstands under-hood heat, preventing deformation common with standard thermoplastics.

Automotive Under‑Hood Components

Industrial Machinery & Equipment

Industrial Machinery & Equipment

Pump housings, valve bodies, and chemical racks often suffer from corrosion and creep. LFT-G® PP LGF60 resists acids, alkalis, and moisture while maintaining dimensional stability under load-extending service life in aggressive environments.

Consumer & Electrical Appliances

Thin walls, complex ribs, and heat resistance are critical for appliance and tool housings. LFT-G® PP LGF60 flows easily into intricate molds and locks in stiffness, delivering durability without the cost of engineering plastics.

product-15-15

This processing guide is specifically developed for LFT long fiber reinforced thermoplastics. All parameters are optimized for low‑shear processing to maintain fiber length and maximize mechanical performance.

A metering screw with 18:1‑22:1 L/D ratio, combined with a large open nozzle and free‑flow check valve, minimizes fiber breakage during injection. Proper equipment selection preserves fiber length distribution and ensures consistent part strength.

LFT-G® PP LGF60 exhibits good melt stability within the recommended processing window. Adequate mold temperature promotes surface quality and minimizes residual stress. Purge with unfilled PP before shutdown to prevent material degradation and nozzle blockage.

  • Pre‑drying: 2‑4 hrs @ 80‑90°C (desiccant dryer recommended)
  • Melt Temperature: 210‑250°C
  • Mold Temperature: 38‑69°C
  • Injection Pressure: 69‑103 MPa
  • Screw L/D: 18:1‑22:1, metering type

Note: Use a large open nozzle and a free‑flow check valve to preserve fiber length. Purge with unfilled PP before shutdown. Avoid excessive residence time above 260°C.

FAQ

Q: Is LFT-G® PP LGF60 suitable for high-temperature applications?

A: Yes. With a heat deflection temperature of 162°C at 1.8 MPa, LFT-G® PP LGF60 can withstand continuous service in under-hood automotive, industrial machinery, and electrical appliance environments. Short-term excursions up to 180°C are acceptable for intermittent loading.

Q: How does LFT-G® PP LGF60 compare to short glass fiber reinforced PP?

A: LFT-G® PP LGF60 delivers significantly higher stiffness (flexural modulus 11,536 MPa vs. ~5,000 MPa for short-glass PP), impact strength (47 kJ/m² vs. ~15 kJ/m²), and creep resistance. The long glass fiber network provides superior load transfer and dimensional stability under sustained stress.

Q: What is the recommended processing method for LFT-G® PP LGF60?

A: Use standard injection molding machines with a low-compression screw (18:1-22:1 L/D) and a free-flow check valve. Pre-dry at 80-90°C for 2-4 hours. Recommended melt temperature is 210-250°C and mold temperature 38-69°C. Purge with unfilled PP before shutdown.
