What is lFT composites?
LFT composites, also known as long fiber thermoplastic composites, are a type of advanced material that combine high strength and stiffness with low weight. They consist of a matrix material, usually a thermoplastic polymer, reinforced with fibers that are much longer than those typically used in traditional composites. These long fibers result in improved mechanical properties, such as higher tensile strength and modulus, as well as better impact resistance and fatigue performance.
The process of manufacturing LFT composites involves melting the thermoplastic matrix material and impregnating it with the long fibers. The resulting mixture is then extruded into the desired shape or formed into a sheet, which is then cut and machined to create the final product. This process allows for the creation of large, complex structures with high precision and consistency.
Why Long Fiber Composite better than Short fiber composite?

For starters, long fiber composites offer better structural integrity. This is due to their longer fibers being better able to distribute loads and resist deformation, resulting in a material that is stronger overall. Short fiber composites, on the other hand, may be more prone to deformation and failure due to their shorter fibers not being as effective at distributing loads.
In addition to their superior strength, long fiber composites also tend to offer better impact resistance. This is because their longer fibers are better able to absorb energy and distribute it throughout the material, reducing the amount of damage caused by a sudden impact.
Another advantage of long fiber composites is that they can offer better dimensional stability. Short fiber composites can be prone to shrinking or warping over time due to uneven fiber distribution. Long fiber composites, on the other hand, have a more uniform distribution of fibers, resulting in a more stable material that is less likely to deform over time.
