When it comes to glass fiber composites, there are two main types - short and long fiber. While both types have their uses, there are some key differences between the two that are worth exploring.
What's long glass fiber composite?

Long fiber material, also referred to as long fiber reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT) composite, is a type of composite material in which continuous.Short glass fiber composites, as the name suggests, use shorter fibers that are typically around 0.25 inches long. These fibers are used to add strength and stiffness to a wide range of materials, from plastics to concrete. Short fibers are easy to work with and can be added to a variety of materials without significantly altering their properties.Long glass fiber composites, on the other hand, use longer fibers that can range in length from 0.5 inches to several inches(5-25mm). The longer fibers provide greater strength and stiffness than short fibers and are often used in high-performance applications such as aerospace, automotive, and sporting goods. Long fibers also have the advantage of being able to be oriented in specific directions to optimize their performance in a given application.

Outstanding Case Sharing

In 2021, a customer making home appliance parts approached us and said, "The PP-GF material we are using now has insufficient performance, and we need a high-performance material to improve the strength and toughness product performance of washing machine parts."
After evaluating the proposal from our technical department, we suggested the customer to use "LFT-G® PP-NG05-LGF50% material. After our reasonable technical guidance, the mechanical properties of the washing machine parts made of our LFT-G® PP-NG05-LGF50% material were improved by 30%-40%. The customer's feedback is very satisfied with the use of the results, for the customer in the target country market to obtain a great market advantage. We have exported more than 2,000MT material to our customers, and we are able to provide our customers with continuous and stable supply.
