What is long and short glass fiber?
Long and short glass fiber composites are both commonly used materials in the manufacturing industry. However, they differ significantly in terms of their composition and mechanical properties.
Long glass fiber composites consist of continuous strands of glass fiber that are longer than 1mm in length. These fibers are typically embedded in a thermoplastic matrix, forming a material that is stronger, stiffer, and more fatigue-resistant than short glass fiber composites. Long glass fiber composites are often used in high-performance applications such as aerospace, automotive, and sports equipment.
Short glass fiber composites, on the other hand, consist of glass fibers that are shorter than 1mm. These fibers are typically mixed with the matrix material in a random orientation, creating a composite.

Outstanding Case Sharing

In 2021, a customer making home appliance parts approached us and said, "The PP-GF material we are using now has insufficient performance, and we need a high-performance material to improve the strength and toughness product performance of washing machine parts."
After evaluating the proposal from our technical department, we suggested the customer to use "LFT-G® PP-NG05-LGF50% mix PP raw resin to make the composite material. After our reasonable technical guidance, the mechanical properties of the washing machine parts made of our LFT-G® PP-NG05-LGF50% material were improved by 30%-40%. The customer's feedback is very satisfied with the use of the results, for the customer in the target country market to obtain a great market advantage. We have exported more than 2,000MT material to our customers, and we are able to provide our customers with continuous and stable supply.
