From July 2011 to June 2013, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine has successfully performed 50 cases of scalp implanted skull repair.
In 2014, the surgical team led by Associate Professor Liu Jinfang, deputy director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Xiangya Hospital, successfully used a new type of skull repair material “polyetheretherketone material” to perform an individualized repair operation for a skull defect patient. It is the first case in China.
In the new program on "Approaching Science" published on September 20th, Professor Wang Maode from the Department of Neurosurgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University used the polyetheretherketone skull repair material for the patient to repair the skull.
In May of this year, the Thoracic Surgery Department of Tangdu Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University of Xi'an successfully completed the 3D printed PEEK rib implant surgery for a chest wall tumor patient, which is the first in the world.
In 1999, the first PEEK product to replace metal materials in spinal surgery was the intervertebral synthesizer.
