PA66 is a polar group and has hydrophilicity. The amide group contains a carbon-oxygen double bond and a nitrogen-hydrogen single bond. Therefore, the CN bond has a partial double bond property, so that the amide group has planar characteristics and a large cohesive energy, and Hydrogen bonds can be formed between molecules, and the molecular arrangement is relatively regular, which makes PA66 have higher crystallinity.
The nature of PA66 depends on the ratio of methylene or aryl to amide groups in the molecular backbone. The end of the main chain of PA66 macromolecule contains amino group (-NHz) and carboxyl group (-COOH). Under certain conditions, it has certain reactivity and can be chemically catalyzed by blocking, grafting, blending, strengthening and filling. And physical modification. PA66 can be determined by acid-base titration method, but the difficulty lies in the choice of solvent, because PA66 is only dissolved in strong acid and cresol at room temperature.
As a engineering plastic, PA66 has high mechanical strength, low friction coefficient, good self-lubricating property, shock absorption and sound absorbing property, good heat resistance, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, non-toxicity and odorlessness.
The disadvantage is that it is highly absorbent, sensitive to temperature and humidity, and affects dimensional stability and electrical properties. PA66 contains active amino and carboxyl groups, which can be easily modified to improve product properties. For example, nylon has good affinity with glass fiber, and glass fiber reinforced can reduce the water absorption of the resin. Therefore, PA66 materials are widely used in various machinery, transportation, electrical and electronic, film and industrial parts. They have increasingly demonstrated the superiority of PA66 engineering materials in terms of replacing metals, saving energy, labor protection and improving work efficiency. Compared with metal materials, PA66 is less rigid than metal, but its specific strength is higher than that of metal materials. Unlike metal materials, PA66 is a polymer material. Its tensile strength varies with temperature and water absorption in the temperature range. The change has changed. The fatigue strength of polyamide is 20%-30% of tensile strength, lower than that of nickel steel, carbon steel, etc., but similar to metal materials such as cast iron and aluminum alloy.
