Carbon fiber (CF) is a new type of fiber material with high strength and high modulus fiber with carbon content above 95%. Carbon fiber has the characteristics of high strength and light weight, and it is an excellent mechanical property and has many special functions. Due to its excellent comprehensive performance and high added value, carbon fiber and its composite materials are known as “black gold” in the 21st century. They are listed in the national “13th Five-Year Plan” as a strategic emerging industry with key national development.

There is a big gap between the development of China's carbon fiber industry and foreign countries, both in the production of carbon fiber and downstream applications. Taking carbon fiber as an example, in 2017, the global carbon fiber theoretical capacity was 147,100 tons, while China was 26,000 tons. The gap is already large, but in terms of actual production, the gap is even more pronounced. In 2016, global carbon fiber production was around 84,000 tons, about 60% of capacity, but China's actual output was 7,400 tons (say 5400), less than 30% of capacity (China's carbon fiber demand in 2017 was about 24,800 tons, self-sufficiency rate of 30%). ). At the same time, foreign countries such as Dongli can mass produce carbon fiber grades such as T300, T700, T800, T1000, M40, M55, M60, etc., while domestic T300 and T700 can meet certain demands. Other grades have not yet formed large-scale supply in the market.

At the same time, there is still a big gap in the application of carbon fiber, taking the field of carbon fiber application as an example:

At present, the top three global carbon fiber consumption categories are wind power, aerospace, sports and leisure products, and automobiles.

The domestic applications are more sporting goods, wind power, building reinforcement, pressure vessels, etc., at the relatively low end of the application. The most typical is sporting goods, the world's 13,200 tons, the amount of China and Taiwan is about the same, the total amount is 12,000 tons, close to nearly 90% of the global consumption, but in the carbon fiber sports and leisure sample brand, can not find a few get The brand that shot. In the field of wind power and gas cylinders, which have grown rapidly in recent years, the most important thing is to provide products to foreign manufacturers. Taking wind power as an example, although domestic companies have seen rapid growth in carbon fiber composites this year, they are all provided for Vestas. Vestas had a business crisis several years ago and almost sold it to Chinese companies, but they insisted on the beginning of technology, innovative carbon fiber application in wind power, changing traditional prepreg and carbon cloth processes, and using pultruded sheets to make blades. The beam process, when it made a breakthrough, quickly became the world's wind power boss. The same is true for gas cylinders. Mirai, the new energy vehicle that the Prime Minister visited Japan to see Toyota in the past few days, is a hydrogen fuel cell sedan. Its technology has crushed many domestic new energy vehicles, and BMW’s i series and 7 series are carbon fiber. A model in automotive applications!
