What is a composite material?
Composite materials, also known as fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, are made from a polymer matrix and are reinforced with engineered, man-made or natural fibers (such as glass, carbon fiber or aramid) or other reinforcing materials. The matrix protects the fibers from environmental and external damage and transfers the load between the fibers. The fiber in turn provides strength and stiffness to strengthen the matrix and help it resist cracks and cracks.

In many of our industrial products, the polyester resin is the matrix and the glass fiber is the reinforcing material. However, many combinations of resins and reinforcing materials are used in the composite, each of which contributes to the unique properties of the finished product: the fibers are strong and brittle, providing strength and stiffness, while the more flexible resin provides shape and protects the fibers. FRP composites may also contain fillers, additives, core materials or surface treatments designed to improve the manufacturing process, appearance and performance of the final product.
