For automotive component manufacturers, the use of modified nylon means higher molding temperatures and longer molding cycles to produce a hood that meets quality requirements. Therefore, obtaining a more versatile automotive hood material has become a common demand in the industry.
Recently, long glass fiber reinforced PP materials are inexpensive and have the same excellent performance as reinforced engineering plastics, thus exhibiting a cost-effective advantage. The LFT-PP material refers to a modified PP composite containing glass fibers having a length of 6 to 25 mm, which is effective for improving the rigidity, impact strength, creep resistance and dimensional stability of the article.
LFT-PP has the following characteristics:
● Outstanding mechanical properties, excellent balance of rigidity and toughness;
● Low shrinkage, very good stability over a wide temperature range and climatic conditions, high dimensional stability;
● High notched impact strength;
● a coefficient of thermal expansion comparable to metal;
● Excellent resistance to dynamic fatigue
Under the same glass fiber content, the mechanical properties of LFT-PP are similar to those of PA-GF materials, and the unique structure shows excellent mechanical properties. In addition, long glass fiber reinforced PP has the following advantages over glass fiber reinforced PA6 products:

Therefore, LFT-PP replaces GF-PA for engine cover products, which has the advantages of cost advantage and process. For example, the Dongfeng engine cover is made of LGF-P1G6HM, 30% long glass fiber reinforced polypropylene, high flow, high rigidity, high toughness and anti-aging.
