Optibike's new carbon fiber R15C with 3.35 horsepower and 100 mile battery life may become the new king of high-performance electric bicycles

Founded in 1998, Optibike has been manufacturing high-performance electric bicycles for cycling and racing for 20 years. The company has released their latest products to redefine the meaning of high-performance electric bikes.
Since the OB1 electric bicycle popularized large-capacity batteries and mid-range drive motors, Optibike has been setting the standard for the electric bicycle industry - a few years ago, big companies like Shimano, Bosch and Bafang also followed suit.

Now, Optibike's R15C is a new upgrade to its high-performance R-series electric bike.
The R15C has an impressive list of specs.
The bike comes standard with a detachable 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery (52V 29Ah), which is a 38% increase over the previous R15 huge battery.
When the bike is kept at 20 mph (32 km/h), that huge battery pack can travel 100 miles (161 km). However, since the motor has a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), it may be difficult to resist the urge to move at full speed. Especially considering Optibike's proprietary mid-range drive system, you can pedal faster than the motor's top speed of 28 mph.
The R15C is also equipped with a 1.5 kW motor with a peak power of 2.5 kW or 3.35 hp. Enough for you to reach 28 mph quickly.
On other bicycles, I am worried that such a high speed will be achieved, but the R15C is equipped with high-quality components, which allows the bicycle to safely bomb at a breakthrough speed.
The frame and rocker arm are made entirely of high-strength lightweight carbon fiber. Even the detachable battery case is carbon fiber.
The 160mm front and rear suspensions are all fitted with a 36mm electric bike-specific front fork and a motocross-style rear linkage.
This headset is a Cane Creek angle set that can be adjusted from 63.5 to 66.5 degrees to accommodate a wider range of handling and riding styles. The brake is an SRAM code unit and the rear hub is the internal gear Rohloff A12. The separate rear hub is priced at more than $1,000, and it has been handcrafted by Optibike's 27.5" wheel to reduce rolling resistance.
In the highest power mode, the mid-drive motor is rated at 192 Nm (142 ft-lb), with a continuous power of 1,650 W and a peak power of 2,500 W. However, the R15C also offers two lower power levels for the bike. Street became a legal Class 2 electric bike in the United States with a power of 750 W and an electronic speed limit of 20 mph.
The bicycle weighs 68 pounds (30.8 kg). This is not a lightweight standard for bicycles, but it is truly lightweight for electric motorcycle standards. Considering that this is somewhere in between, it is not too shabby.

Optibike is known for its high-quality range of electric bikes, but they are not known for their simplicity. While their entry-level electric bikes are closer to the $3,500 range, the R15C will get you back to $13,900. Despite the high price, it seems that the demand is very high. The delivery in August, August and October 2018 has been sold out, and the reservation is now available for delivery in November.

Of course, you didn't expect a high-performance carbon fiber electric bicycle to have five times the battery capacity of an ordinary electric bicycle. The motor power is 10 times that of an ordinary electric bicycle, and it will be cheaper, right? The R15C is priced at $13,900 and is one of the most expensive electric bikes on the market. But considering that these electric bikes are still on the road for a decade or more, this price may be fairer than you think.
