Aurora Flight Science is a pioneer in drones and autonomous flights, and will invest more than $13.75 million to expand its operations at Manassas, Virginia. Boeing and Aurora also announced their agreement to lease approximately 100,000 square feet at a new office building at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It will serve as a new aerospace and autonomous center for drone manufacturers.


Aurora has production facilities in Bridgeport, West Virginia and Columbus, Miss., and has R&D centers in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dayton, Ohio, and Menlo Park, California, and Europe in Lucerne, Switzerland. office.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Manassas City to secure a project in Virginia. Former Governor Terry McAuliffe approved a $500,000 grant from the Federal Opportunities Fund to assist Manassas in completing the project. The company is also eligible for duty-free sales and use of manufacturing equipment, as well as tax credits for major commercial facilities. Funding and services will be provided through the Virginia Employment Investment Program to support the company's employee training activities.
