LFT-G® PP GF50 (Copolymer) – Extreme Impact Long Glass Fiber Composite

LFT-G PP GF50-NG05YD High Impact Granules

LFT-G® PP GF50 (Model: LFT-G®CPP-LGF50YD) is an ultra-high performance 50% long glass fiber reinforced Copolymer Polypropylene (PP) composite. Engineered for the most demanding structural applications, this grade bridges the gap between traditional engineering plastics and metal alloys. Unlike standard homopolymer PP GF50, which can be brittle, our Copolymer matrix delivers exceptional ductility and a notched impact strength of 56 kJ/m².

Produced via our advanced pultrusion process, the long glass fibers (10-12mm length) form an entangled 3D skeletal network within the molded part. This internal structure effectively dissipates stress energy, preventing crack propagation even under extreme loads or sub-zero temperatures.

It is the definitive material choice for industries seeking to replace die-cast aluminum or magnesium parts to achieve significant weight reduction without compromising safety or structural integrity.

Technical Advantages of Copolymer LGF50:

  • Extreme Impact Resistance (56 kJ/m²): The rubber-toughened copolymer base combined with 50% long fiber reinforcement provides impact resistance that is nearly 400% higher than standard short fiber PP GF50.

  • Cold Weather Performance: Maintains toughness and resists shattering even in freezing environments (-30°C), making it ideal for outdoor sports and automotive exterior parts.

  • Superior Fatigue Life: The entangled fiber network endures high-frequency vibrations and cyclic loading scenarios where metals might suffer from fatigue cracking.

  • Low Warpage & High Stiffness: Despite the high impact nature, the 50% fiber load ensures high modulus and dimensional stability, preventing warpage in large, flat structural components.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is the advantage of Copolymer PP over Homopolymer for LGF50?

A: Impact Strength. While Homopolymer (Homo-PP) is stiffer, it is naturally brittle. Copolymer PP (Copo-PP) contains ethylene blocks that act as impact modifiers. When reinforced with 50% long fibers, our LFT-G® CPP-LGF50YD achieves 56 kJ/m² impact strength, making it shatter-resistant even in freezing conditions.

Q: Is 50% glass fiber hard to process in injection molding?

A: No, LFT flows well. Despite the high fiber content, LFT-G® pellets are fully impregnated, ensuring good flowability. However, to preserve the long fiber length (which is crucial for strength), we recommend using low back pressure, low screw speeds, and generous gate sizes during molding.

Q: Can LFT-PP LGF50 replace Die-Cast Aluminum?

A: Yes, absolutely. With a density of ~1.33 g/cm³, it is half the weight of Aluminum (~2.7 g/cm³). While metal is stiffer, LFT-G® LGF50 offers sufficient structural rigidity for most housings and brackets, with the added benefits of zero corrosion, no secondary machining, and significantly lower production costs.
