What is PA6 LGF30 FR Material?

LFT-G® PP LGF30 | 30% Long Glass Fiber Polypropylene

LFT‑G® PA6 LGF30 FR is a long glass fiber reinforced, flame-retardant Polyamide 6 compound built for electrical and structural parts that must pass V0 while still carrying real mechanical load. It pairs a UL-style V0 flame-retardant system with 30% continuous long glass fiber, so the molded part keeps a longer effective fiber length than short-glass FR nylon-giving higher stiffness, better creep resistance and lower warpage at the same flame rating.

The material is aimed at safety-critical housings and brackets: battery-pack components, charging equipment, circuit-breaker and switchgear structures, power-supply enclosures and 5G equipment. It processes on standard injection molding equipment with a wear-resistant screw, and the FR system is formulated to limit the usual trade-off between flame retardancy and toughness.

Performance Highlights

PA6 LGF30 FR vs. PA6 GF30 FR

Long glass fiber reinforced flame-retardant PA6 outperforms short-glass FR grades in stiffness, creep and dimensional control

Superior Performance

PA6 LGF30 FR

Long Glass Fiber Reinforced Flame-Retardant PA6

Continuous long-glass network + V0 system

✔ V0 Flame Retardancy: Meets V0 at thin wall sections for safety-critical housings

✔ High Structural Stiffness: Long-glass network carries load where short-glass FR grades deflect

✔ Low Creep Under Sustained Load: Holds preload in brackets, busbars and switchgear frames

✔ Reduced Warpage: Long-fiber bridging evens shrinkage between thick ribs and thin walls

✔ Balanced Toughness: FR system formulated to limit embrittlement common in short-glass FR PA6

✔ Metal Replacement Ready: Injection-moldable alternative to die-cast housings and machined brackets

Standard

PA6 GF30 FR

Short Glass Fiber Reinforced Flame-Retardant PA6

Disconnected short-fiber network

• Same V0 Rating, Less Margin: Flame performance achieved, but with less structural headroom

• Lower Stiffness: Requires thicker ribs or more mounting points for the same load

• Higher Creep: Preloaded brackets relax faster under sustained compression

• More Warpage: Uneven shrinkage in rib-to-wall transitions complicates assembly

• More Brittle: Short-glass FR PA6 tends to crack at snap-fits and screw bosses

• Limited Fatigue Life: Shorter effective fiber length reduces cycling durability

Long Glass Fiber Advantage: PA6 LGF30 FR vs. PA6 GF30 FR

PA6 LGF30 FR vs. PA6 GF30 FR - Relative Performance Profile

The continuous long-glass reinforcement improves load transfer efficiency while the flame-retardant system delivers V0 performance, producing better stiffness retention, fatigue durability and dimensional stability than conventional short-glass FR PA6 - without trading away the flame rating.

  • Processing Guidelines – Injection Molding

Optimize your molding process with the following recommended parameters for LFT‑G® PA6 LGF30 FR. Proper drying and low-shear processing protect both the long-glass network and the flame-retardant system.

3

Mold Temperature

55 – 90 °C

4

Injection Pressure

70 – 120 MPa

Molding & Cooling

Full‑round runners Ø 5–6 mm

Gate ≥ 5 mm · 100+ ton clamp

Process notes: Use a wear-resistant metering screw with 18:1–24:1 L/D ratio and a large open nozzle to minimize fiber breakage. Keep melt temperature within the recommended window-overheating can degrade the flame-retardant system as well as the PA6 matrix. Purge with PE or PP before shutdown; do not leave long-glass FR melt in the barrel for extended periods.
  • Application Focus Areas

EV Battery Pack Structural Parts

EV Battery Pack Structural Parts

Module frames, pack support brackets, busbar mounts and thermal-runner covers. The V0 rating adds fire safety margin, while long-glass reinforcement keeps bolt-hole alignment and preload stable through vibration and thermal cycling.

Charging Piles & Power Supply Enclosures

Charging Piles & Power Supply Enclosures

EV charger shells, DC-DC converter housings, inverter frames and industrial power-supply bodies. V0 flame performance plus low warpage supports thin-wall designs that pass safety review and still assemble cleanly.

Circuit Breakers & Switchgear Frames

Circuit Breakers & Switchgear Frames

Breaker housings, contactor bodies, busbar supports and DIN-rail mounting frames. The FR system meets V0 at thin sections, while high creep resistance keeps contact pressure and trip alignment stable over years of service.

Industrial VFD & Servo Drive Housings

Industrial VFD & Servo Drive Housings

Variable-frequency drive shells, servo controller bodies, motor terminal boxes, and power-module frames. V0 flame performance plus long-glass stiffness supports compact layouts where power modules sit close to structural walls and heat cycling is constant.

FAQ

Q: What flame rating does PA6 LGF30 FR achieve?

A: The grade is formulated to reach V0 at 1.6–2.0 mm wall sections. Actual rating depends on part geometry, gate location and wall thickness, so we recommend confirming with a molded test coupon for your specific design before finalizing the safety submission.

Q: How is PA6 LGF30 FR different from short-glass PA6 GF30 FR?

A: Both can reach V0, but the continuous long-glass network in PA6 LGF30 FR keeps a longer effective fiber length in the molded part. That gives higher stiffness retention, lower creep under preload and less warpage than short-glass FR PA6, which matters most in structural housings and brackets.

Q: Can PA6 LGF30 FR replace metal in electrical housings?

A: Yes. It is designed as an injection-moldable alternative to die-cast aluminum and machined steel brackets in EV battery packs, charging equipment, switchgear and telecom housings. It combines V0 flame performance with the stiffness and creep resistance needed for structural mounting.
