What is PA6 LGF50?

LFT-G® PA6 LGF50 is a composite material made by embedding 50% long glass fibers into a polyamide 6 (PA6) polymer matrix. The long glass fibers, typically exceeding 5 mm in length, significantly enhance the material's mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, stiffness, and impact resistance. Unlike traditional short glass fiber composites, PA6 LGF50 retains longer fiber lengths even after processing, which translates to superior performance in final products.

Advantages Over Competing Materials

  • Compared to Metals:

PA6 LGF50 offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio, reducing the overall weight of components without compromising performance. It is also more cost-effective to process, as it requires less energy and simpler equipment.

  • Compared to Short Glass Fiber Composites:

The long glass fibers in PA6 LGF50 provide better mechanical properties, such as higher impact resistance and fatigue strength. This makes it a more durable option for demanding applications.

  • Compared to GMT and SMC:

PA6 LGF50 is easier to process and offers better recyclability. Its ability to maintain fiber length during processing ensures consistent performance in final products.
