LFT-G® LGF50 HDPE Composite

The Composition of LGF50 HDPE

LFT-G® LGF50 HDPE is a 50% long glass fiber reinforced HDPE compound developed for lightweight structural components requiring high stiffness, strength, impact resistance and excellent environmental durability.

Material Composition

Matrix: High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
Reinforcement: 50% Long Glass Fiber (LGF)
Material Form: Long-fiber reinforced pellets
Primary Processing: Injection Molding

The HDPE matrix provides chemical resistance, moisture resistance and toughness, while the long glass fiber reinforcement significantly enhances the structural properties of the base resin.

Why LGF50 HDPE?

LGF50 HDPE is not simply a stronger version of conventional HDPE. Its main value comes from combining the characteristics of an HDPE matrix with the structural reinforcement of long glass fibers.

For applications where unfilled HDPE is too flexible, LGF50 HDPE provides a significant increase in stiffness and strength.

01

Compared with conventional short-glass-fiber compounds,

the long-fiber structure offers improved reinforcement efficiency and better suitability for components subjected to impact, cyclic loading and sustained mechanical loads.

02

Compared with metal,

LGF50 HDPE provides a lightweight thermoplastic solution with corrosion resistance and the ability to manufacture complex geometries through injection molding.

03

Compared with higher-cost engineering plastics,

the HDPE matrix provides an attractive combination of chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, toughness and structural reinforcement.

FAQ

Q: Can LGF50 HDPE replace metal?

A: It can be evaluated for selected metal-replacement applications. Final suitability depends on the component's loading, temperature, geometry, safety requirements and validation results.

Q: Is LGF50 HDPE resistant to chemicals?

A: Yes. The HDPE matrix provides good resistance to many chemicals, acids, alkalis and other aggressive environments. Specific chemical compatibility should be checked for the actual application.

Q: What processing method is used?

A: LGF50 HDPE is primarily designed for injection molding.

Q: Is LGF50 HDPE suitable for outdoor use?

A: It can be evaluated for outdoor applications, particularly where chemical resistance, moisture resistance and structural performance are required. UV exposure and long-term environmental conditions should be considered during material selection.
