Case Study: Motorsport Aerodynamic Wing

The Challenge

A competitive GT racing team needed to develop a new rear aerodynamic wing. The wing had to be incredibly stiff to withstand extreme downforce at speeds over 250 km/h without flexing, which would alter its aerodynamic profile. It also needed to be exceptionally lightweight. While their engineers were experts in hand-laid thermoset composites, the process was too slow and expensive for producing the multiple iterations needed for testing and replacement.

The material's extremely high modulus allowed for the design of a thin-profile, hollow wing that was both incredibly rigid and lightweight.
