TPU has excellent physical and mechanical properties such as high tensile strength and elongation. The soft and hard section ratio of TPU can be adjusted in a wide range, so the hardness range of TPU is quite wide, from Shore hardness 60A-80D, and has high elasticity in the whole hardness range; hardness is different, and its tensile strength is also Not the same, from 20MPa to 70MPa.

The wear resistance of the TPU is outstanding, so TPU is often used to make soles and cable jackets. TPU has good tear resistance and low long-term compression set is also a significant advantage of TPU. TPU is essentially different from the thermomechanical properties of chemically crosslinked polyurethanes. When the TPU is stressed, orientation occurs, causing the original hydrogen bond to break and forming new hydrogen bonds in place. Because of this, TPU exhibits high tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, and permanent deformation. TPU does not contain any plasticizer and can be laminated with other materials such as ABS and polycarbonate. Many commercial TPUs are polyester type, and polyester TPU is superior to polyether TPU in abrasion resistance, tear resistance and tensile and tear strength. The polyether ester type TPU synthesized by a special method has superior performance, and has the properties of polyether type and polyester type thermoplastic polyurethane, and can be used for production of fire hoses, cable sheaths and films.
