What is PP LGF?
LFT-G® PP LGF is long glass fiber reinforced polypropylene material (PP-LGF, granule length is 10-25mm), PP GF is short glass fiber filled polypropylene reinforced thermoplastic (PP-GF, granule length is less 3mm). PP LGF material keep fiber length more than 10 mm that make PP LGF's mechanical property to the maximum.Long glass fiber reinforced filled PP (LFT-PP-LGF) is a proven process to modify PP materials with reinforcement. LFT-PP LGF materials not only effectively improve the rigidity, impact strength, creep resistance and dimensional stability of products, but also make complex automotive module products.
Why use long glass fiber PP instead of short fiber PP?
In order to make the glass fiber in the plastic to play a good role in improving the strength of the glass fiber, the length must be greater than its critical length L0. Relevant information shows that when the fiber length is less than this critical length of fiber-reinforced plastic by a certain load, the fiber will be pulled out, the strength of the fiber can not be given full play. The critical length Lo is related to the specific plastic species, in the case of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene, its L0 is 3.1mm.
This shows that the damage pattern is mainly due to the fibers being pulled out and not meeting the strength requirements of the module carrier material. Therefore, the development and application of long glass fiber reinforced polypropylene and its injection molding technology is to prepare polypropylene raw materials with a reinforced glass fiber length of around 10 mm and to ensure that the glass fiber length in the product is above 3.1 mm by means of an improved injection molding process.
