PA6 Long Fiber Compounds LGF30
Long fiber composites are the most dimensionally stable materials for injection molded reinforced thermoplastics. All plastics are subject to a certain degree of shrinkage during cooling and hardening, as this facilitates removal from the injection molding tool. The amount of polymer shrinkage is consistent and considered in the design of the component. As the molds are filled with reinforcing material along the direction of polymer flow, they can lead to anisotropic properties. Anisotropic shrinkage can cause component warpage. Due to the long fiber lengths in long fiber composites, they tend to bend, tumble and wrap to form an internal structural skeleton within the injection molded component. This random fiber arrangement with long fiber composites results in improved dimensional stability and almost isotropic shrinkage characteristics compared to other reinforcing materials. Long fiber-reinforced composites also exhibit reduced thermal expansion due to their internal reinforcing fiber network.
