The World's First Automotive Rear Suspension System Uses PPG Fiberglass Yarn Products

PPG Industries official website said that the company's TUFROV® 4510 and TUFROV® 4588 fiberglass yarn products were used to produce the world's first thermoplastic composite automotive rear suspension system.


The system was launched by Polystrand, a US thermoplastic composites manufacturer, using a sports car called GT-Lite. The car's designer and senior engineer Jonathan Spiegel just drove the sports car to participate in the SCCA car race in Houston. He said that the sports car was mainly introduced to show that continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite is an excellent material that can be used in the production of automotive suspension systems and structural components.
