Long fiber thermoplastic (LFT) composites fill the cost-effective gap between staple thermoplastic and advanced composites while still being processed through efficient injection molding. Successful end uses often require better performance than SFT products, and metals are not an option because of weight or cost per piece. LFT composites have become rapidly accepted as viable alternatives to die-castings, metal components and conventional plastic materials in a wide range of markets including industrial equipment, automotive, consumer products, sports and leisure, and information technology.

LFT has better performance than SFT products and due to its high strength-weight ratio and cost-effectiveness, metal is not an ideal choice.
